Full Professor of Biotechnology applied to Plant Pathology at the School of Biotechnology of the University of Turin and Director of the Centre of Competence for the innovation in the agro-environmental sector (Agroinnova) since 2002. Member of international commissions on agro-environmental issues and consultant of the Italian Ministry for Environment and Territory on issues related to the Montreal and Kyoto Protocols. .Consultant of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central and Eastern Europe (REC) of Budapest.
Responsible of several international projects in the field of sustainable agriculture for International Agencies, managed many research projects from EU, Ministry of University and Research, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Environment, Regional Governments and Private Industry. Programme Director of International High Level Courses on Sustainable Development for high officers of Chinese and Central and Eastern Europe Governments at Venice International University. Chair of the Committee for International Affairs of the University of Torino, since 1997, of a Centre for Pesticide Efficacy Evaluation and Director of Informatore Fitopatologico – La Difesa delle Piante, a journal published by Il Sole 24 Ore.
President of the Italian Society for Crop Protection (A.I.P.P.) since 1996 to 2004. Secretary in 2000, Vice-President in 2001 and President in 2002 of the Italian Association of Scientific Agrarian Societies (A.I.S.S.A.). Vice-President of the International Society for Plant Pathology (ISPP) since 2003. Author or co-author of 5 books, 400 research, 150 feature and several divulgative articles.
She won in 2003 the Novamont International Prize on “Sustainable development”, in 2004 the Special mention, for the innovation and creativity shown with the development of Agroinnova, at the Salone Nazionale dell’Imprenditoria femminile GammaDonna, and in 2005 the Van Den Brande Prize of the University of Gent.
