Professor of Plant Disease Management and member of numerous Italian and international scientific associations. responsible of many research project from EU, Ministry of University and Research, Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Governments and Private industry.
Consultant of the Ministry for Health for the registration of new biological products to be used in crop protection.
Vice-President of the University of Torino from 1996 to 2004, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture from 1990 to 1996 and President of the Council of Degree Course in Agricultural Sciences from 1986 to 1991.
President of the Italian Phytopathological Association (AFI) from 1986 to 1990.
He has taught at the American University of Beirut (Lebanon) and at the Somalian National University of Mogadishu. Author or co-author of 4 books, 450 research and 100 feature articles. He has been awarded the Van der Brande prize from the University of Gent (Belgium) and the gold medal for service to Science and Culture.
